Team Captain Brody Selman Joins The Arizona Wild Cats Next Season

For Immediate Release

Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks are proud to announce that Junior “A” forward Brody Selman committed to the University of Arizona for the 2021-22 season.

The Wildcats are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) and skate out of the American Hockey League Association’s (ACHA) Division 1 tier. The institution is located in Tucson and is led by head coach Chad Berman.

Selman, 20, joins the Wild Cats after netting 14 goals and chipping in 24 assists for 38 points on the year in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Protec’s team captain also expressed his excitement about the decision to join Arizona.

“Coach Berman and I were in contact about one month ago and right away I knew it was going to be a great fit academically and athletically,” said Selman.

The Jr. Ducks’ leading scorer also mentioned how family members not only graduated from Arizona but “spoke highly” about the University’s D1 program. Additionally, it seemed that lacing up the skates for Protec and head coach Terry Watt helped Selman migrate and fly west towards Arizona.

“Coach Watt helped with the recruiting process all year,” said Selman. “He has helped me and other players reach their goals of playing college hockey. I’m thankful for all of his hard work and dedication throughout the season.”

While the Jr. Ducks are in their inaugural season, the squad clinched home-ice advantage for the EHL’s first round and in large thanks to Selman. It’s arguably no coincidence that Protec finished the 2020-21 campaign on a six-game winning streak due to Selman's leadership, plus the team-effort mentality.

“We are thrilled for Brody and this young man is the real deal,” said Watt. “He turned down multiple NCAA options and he wanted to go to a school that was a good fit for him and for what he wants to study at school. Any team is lucky to have a great man like him in their locker-room.”

Selman further described not only his excitement for his new venture but his appreciation for his peers and family.

"I'm really excited to be joining one of the top hockey programs in the country," said Selman.

"I'm looking forward to studying business, the warm weather, and being in a great academic environment. I want to thank all my teammates, coaches, family and friends for making this happen. I couldn't have done it without their support."

Protec is skating in its inaugural season for the EHL and is a member of the league's South Division.
