The Jr. Ducks aim for their 9th win this season

Somerset, NJ – For the first time since Nov. 15, the Protec Jr. Ducks travel to Ice Works in Aston, PA, and face-off with the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

The newly formed “South Division” rivals of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) are set for an 11:30 a.m. puck drop. Protec is 2-2-0 against the City of Brotherly Love this season, while forward Brody Selman has recorded four points (1g-3a) vs. the Little Flyers.

Keep in mind that the Jr. Ducks enter the contest with a 1-1-1 record since the second half of the 2020-21 campaign. Team captain Selman and company suffered an overtime loss to Team Maryland on Thursday, Jan. 7, but collected a 4-3 shootout win against Maryland one day later.

Protec’s lone regulation loss during the new year was to the first-place New Jersey 87’s, 6-4, after the Jr. Ducks provided the 87’s with a scare. New Jersey led Protec by a score of 5-2 entering the third period, prior to the flock’s Olivier Charest and Matt Harvey finding the back of the net during the latter frame. Additionally, the 87’s sixth goal of the contest was scored when regulation was borderline expiring and with a Protec empty net.

While it’s the same goal to fly together at the Pond in New Jersey, there are some fresh faces on the team’s roster that the Junior hockey community should keep an eye on.

Jr. Ducks’ forward Christos Caminis owns two goals and two helpers in three-games played since joining Protec in January. Let us not forget that winger Brendan Krawczyk has displayed offensive talent since signing with the flock in December. The Buffalo, NY native is expected to see ice-time on the man-advantage for Protec while skating in the team’s top-six rotation on offense.
