Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks bounced back in commendable fashion on Tuesday at the Pond, after the Philadelphia Little Flyers shutout the Flock on Monday.

Protec rebounded and defeated the Little Flyers, 2-1, and snapped its three-game losing streak.

Jr. Ducks forward Brody Selman netted his sixth goal of the year, after connecting with Nick Newman on a two-on-one during the latter stages of the first period. The goal marked the 20-year-old’s sixth tally for the 2020-21 campaign and Selman enters the weekend leading the Jr. Ducks with 18 points (6g-12a).

The Flock wasted no time finding the back of the net again, after Tyler Ebeling recorded a power-play goal with just over 3:00 minutes remaining in the game’s opening frame. The 18-year-old, who was Protec’s first featured skater in “Flying Together,” earned more than just his first power-play goal on the year.

No. 12 netted his first game-winning goal, while the defense and goaltending took care of the rest from that point on. Protec was not only efficient at clogging up the lanes in the defensive zone, but goaltender Dakota Meyer was arguably the contest’s first star of the game.

“It was exciting to get my first win for the sure,” said Meyer. “The team battled hard in front of me and did a great job at blocking shots for me. Now, we just need to get ready for the next game against the 87’s on Thursday.”

Meyer, 20, turned away 47 of 48 shots. The City of Brotherly Love didn’t record a goal until it pulled the goaltender with 1:30 remaining in regulation.

The Jr. Ducks host the New Jersey 87’s at the Pond on Thursday.
