Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks are set to face-off with one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) on Thursday.

The Jr. Ducks host New York Apple Core at the Protec Ponds for a 12:15 p.m. puck drop, while both teams are fresh off of key victories in Week #8.

The Jr. Ducks enter another Mid-Atlantic Conference showdown, after splitting their series in dramatic fashion with the Philadelphia Little Flyers this past weekend. Protec’s first-ever team victory was earned against New York on Sept. 21, when the Jr. Ducks displayed a comeback overtime win by a score of 5-4.

Forward Brayden Patricia not only netted the game-winner, but leads all Jr. Ducks skaters with eight points (3g-5a) against Apple Core. Additionally, Spencer Quinn and Tyler Ebeling also recorded multi-point efforts against New York. Both skaters posted three-point efforts (1g-2a) in Protec’s 7-4 victory over New York two days later, while Ebeling found the back of the net twice in the first victory.

Jr. Ducks netminder Tristan Fattedad also collected his first EHL victory against Apple Core back in September in the 5-4 win.

After kicking off the 2020-21 campaign with an 0-5-1 record, New York has earned four wins in its last six games. Apple Core is led by forward Michael Carducci, who has netted seven goals and earned 12 assists for 19 points on the year.

Shifting back to the Pond, Jr. Ducks forward Nick Newman has been on a roll. The 6-foot-3 forward has notched five goals on his belt while riding a four-game points streak.

It should be interesting to see which goaltender head coach Terry Watt starts, in addition to Apple Core which has also utilized all three netminders this season.

The Jr. Ducks are 1-0-2 at the Pond this season and scored four-or-more goals in all three contests.
