Protec signs 'character guy' in Braiden Sparkes

Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks are proud to announce that forward Braiden Sparkes officially signed with the organization’s Junior “A” team.

Prior to signing with Protec, the 20-year-old spent the last two seasons skating for the Spokane Braves in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). Sparkes has netted two goals in seven games with the Jr. Ducks, but Protec also values the youngster’s physicality factor on the ice.

“His name says it all,” said head coach Terry Watt. “’Sparky’,” is what his teammates call him because he provides the ‘spark’ for our team when we need it most.”

Additionally, Watt expressed how fortunate the Jr. Ducks were to welcome Sparkes to Protec Ponds.

“He’s our energy guy that gets the team going each game with a big hit or high-energy shift,” said Watt. “When we put him on the ice, we know what we’re getting from him each shift, and we’re lucky to have a character guy like that in our lineup.”

The Jr. Ducks are one of two expansion teams for the Eastern Hockey League this season and are members of the league’s Mid-Atlantic Conference. Protec currently owns a 3-2-4 record, overall.
