Michael Miller acts as veteran defenseman for Protec's young core

For Immediate Release

Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks officially announced that the organization acquired defenseman Michael Miller from the Maine Eclipse via trade.

Miller, 20, spent the past two seasons skating in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), while dressing for the Connecticut Knighthawks and Hartford Jr. Wolfpack. The 6-foot defenseman has skated in four contests with Protec and offers a veteran-like mentality for a young Ducks squad on the backend.

Head coach Terry Watt believes that the acquisition benefits his blue liners, especially at the Junior “A” level.

“We grabbed Mike in a trade because we were looking for more experience on our backend,” said Watt. “Miller is a 2000 birth year and we’re hoping that he comes in and leads the way with our defense-core given his age and invaluable experience.”

The Jr. Ducks are one of two expansion teams for the Eastern Hockey League this season and are members of the league’s Mid-Atlantic Conference.
