Jr. Ducks Welcome William Walsh to the pond

Somerset, NJ – The Protec Jr. Ducks are proud to announce that forward William Walsh officially signed with the organization’s Junior "A" team for the 2020-21 season.

Walsh, 20, enters his first season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and offers commendable experience. Prior to signing with the Jr. Ducks, the Warwick, NY native spent parts of three seasons with the New Jersey Colonials (AYHL) and New Jersey Rockets (USPHL) 18U “AAA” teams from 2016 until 2019.

The 6-foot-1 skater then headed North of the Border and split time last season with the Cochrane Crunch (NOJHL) and Red Lake Miners (SIJHL) in Canada.

Head coach Terry Watt acknowledged that Walsh’s experience at the higher levels was nothing shy of intriguing.

“Will joined us after playing Junior hockey for a couple of years in Canada,” said Watt. “We expect a 2000 (birth year) forward to come in and play a big offensive role with our team, as well as help out with our leadership group and culture in the locker room.”

The Jr. Ducks are one of two expansion teams for the EHL this season and are members of the league’s Mid-Atlantic Conference. Protec’s next scheduled contest is Monday, Oct. 26, at Protec Ponds for an 11:30 a.m. puck drop.
